Exams Postponed After Question Papers Report Feeling Too Tired

Collegiate final exams were delayed after several hundred printed question papers exhibited signs of severe pulp fatigue and refused to be answered.

BRISTOL — The Mid-Somerset Board of Collegiate Evaluations announced the indefinite postponement of all Michaelmas term finals on Friday morning, citing widespread physical and emotional exhaustion among the printed question papers. The decision was reached at 8:45 a.m. when proctors unlocked Exam Hall 4 to discover three hundred copies of the Advanced Macroeconomics assessment curled up face-down on desks, faintly sighing whenever a draft blew through the room.

Officials initially attempted to coax the stationery into service with fresh staple pins and gentle flattening beneath paperweights, but examiners quickly realised the problem ran deeper than routine creasing. “A standard calculus paper carries an enormous cognitive burden,” explained Dr. Penelope Quirk, Chief Custodian of Stationary Welfare at the Board. “Every sheet must hold multiple equations, negative exponents, and diagrams of unlubricated pulleys under tension. By mid-October, the pulp simply wants to lie flat and ponder blankness without someone demanding the derivative of x.”

The phenomenon is not isolated to complex mathematics. According to a flash audit released by the Institute for Stationary Ergonomics, 87.4 percent of printed exam papers exhibit symptoms of severe printer fatigue by question four, with nearly two-thirds actively refusing to display compulsory sub-clauses unless provided with two hours of direct ambient sunlight and lavender-scented filing cabinets.

Students standing outside the hall expressed mixed reactions to the sheets collective industrial burnout. While several undergraduate revision groups offered to answer only the cheerful multiple-choice questions to reduce paper strain, the student union ultimately supported the postponement. Campus authorities have since transferred the resting papers into darkened manila folders equipped with soothing classical harp music to encourage cellulose recovery.

At press time, invigilators reported that several English Literature booklets had begun whispering illegible complaints about comparative metaphors, while the Chemistry answer keys had officially barricaded themselves inside an archival vault until spring.
