Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 October 2026
This policy explains what information Made Up Morning (“we”, “us”) collects when you use madeupmorning.com, and why. We collect as little as possible.
1. Reading the site
You can read every story without an account, and we do not ask for your name or email to do so. There are no user accounts on this site.
2. Analytics (only if you agree)
If you tap Accept on our cookie notice, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used — for example which pages are viewed, which buttons are tapped, the type of device and browser, and your approximate region. Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) to do this. We have switched off Google signals and ad personalisation. If you tap Reject, Google Analytics is not loaded at all. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Google’s use of this data is described in Google’s own privacy policy.
3. The contact and report form
If you send us a message or report a story, we receive what you type, the story link (if any) and, only if you choose to give it, your email address so we can reply. Messages are delivered to our email inbox. To stop spam and abuse we keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address for up to 7 days; it cannot easily be used to identify you.
4. Information stored on your own device
To avoid showing you the same story twice in one visit, your browser remembers which stories you have seen (in “session storage”, cleared when you close the tab). Your cookie choice is remembered in your browser’s local storage. Neither is sent to us.
5. Hosting and security logs
Our hosting provider, Hostinger, automatically records technical information such as IP addresses and browser types in server logs to keep the site secure and working. These logs are handled under Hostinger’s own policies.
6. AI writing tools
Our stories are drafted with the help of Google’s Gemini AI service. No information about our visitors is ever sent to it.
7. Advertising
The site does not currently show advertising. If we add advertising in future, we will update this policy before it starts and ask for any consent the law requires.
8. Sharing your information
We do not sell your information. We share it only with the services named above, which help us run the site, or if the law requires us to.
9. Your choices and rights
You can refuse analytics, clear your browser storage at any time, and ask us to access, correct or delete any message you have sent us. Depending on where you live (for example under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, the EU or UK GDPR, or Californian law) you may have further rights. Use our contact form to make a request.
10. Children
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
11. Changes
We will update this page if our practices change, and change the date at the top.
