Bengaluru Traffic Jam Granted Own PIN Code After Refusing to Move

A queue of vehicles that has stood still for so long it now has neighbours, a postman and a favourite tea stall has officially become an address.

BENGALURU — A traffic jam on an imaginary stretch of road known as Outer Patience Road has been granted its own PIN code, after the fictional Department of Things That Don’t Move ruled it was “more of a neighbourhood than a delay.”

“Residents of the jam already receive deliveries, celebrate birthdays and hold monthly committee meetings,” said Registrar Anil Waitsalot. “One family has completed an entire home renovation without leaving the left lane.”

A study by the invented Centre for Standing Still found that 87 per cent of the jam’s residents could no longer remember where they had originally been going. Most said they no longer minded, as the jam now has a library and a tea stall that accepts payment only in honks.

At press time, the jam had moved forward by four metres, prompting an emergency residents’ meeting about the noise.
